When to bring your pet to the vet straight away
Exotic pets tend to hide their symptoms until the situation is serious. Come straight away, without waiting, if you notice:- a rabbit or guinea pig that stops eating or has not passed droppings for several hours;
- laboured, open-mouthed or noisy breathing;
- a bird that sits fluffed up on the floor of the cage or cannot stay on its perch;
- a lethargic reptile that has not eaten for some time or has difficulty shedding its skin;
- injuries, falls, wounds or bleeding;
- diarrhoea, a swollen abdomen or rapid weight loss.
